A Glimpse at the Conditions of Sandpoint by Season

The Sandpoint region, which includes Dover, is known for its incredible variety of activities and attractions. This area of Idaho is also known for experiencing the beauty of the changing seasons. To help give you an idea of what to expect throughout the year, we’ve put together a brief snapshot of the average weather.

March through May (Spring)

Spring slowly makes its presence known. Temperatures sit around the high 30s in March before reaching mid-60s by May. Even the daily lows increase by roughly 17 degrees. Given these conditions, precipitation changes from snow to rain, so we recommend packing your raincoat and heavy layers. Local golf courses like The Idaho Club start to open up later in the season.

June through August (Summer)

Summer is one of the best times to visit our resort for a reason. With daily highs sitting around the high 70s and plenty of sunshine, you can spend as much time outdoors as you want! Take advantage of these conditions by spending a day out on the lake. With Sandpoint Watersports being located at our on-site marina, renting a pontoon or ski boat is easy.

September through November (Fall)

The idyllic conditions of summer give way to crisp fall conditions. Daytime highs start to drop and will be in the high 30s by the time November rolls around. Rainfall will also increase, so be sure to bring your rain boots. This type of weather means breathtaking fall foliage. Explore the colors of the season on local trails like the Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail or on the over nine miles of trails throughout the Dover Bay Waterfront Community.

December through February (Winter)

If you love the snow and cold associated with winter, you’ll love visiting Dover and Sandpoint. Temperatures continue to drop throughout the season. However, things don’t get as frigid as some parts of the country. There is also plenty of snowfall that allows you to enjoy quintessential winter activities like skiing at Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort or cross-country skiing at Pine Street Woods.
